I started out in portrait photography by doing mostly outdoor lifestyle photography. As my style developed, I tended towards dramatic images with a sexy edge. A friend suggested I try shooting boudoir, so I set up a few shoots and things took off from there. I discovered how rewarding it is to help someone become comfortable in front of the camera, come out of their shell and experience how beautiful they can be in images. Shoots are a collaboration to make you look your best in gorgeous and artistic photos. I love bringing out the personality and natural expressions of the people I’m shooting with and having a fun time doing it, but best part is delivering the final images and hearing “wow, I look amazing!”
I’m based in Port Coquitlam and have a small home studio, but most of my photography is done on location. I find my clients are more comfortable in their own home, or the home of a friend, and it lets us use furniture, props, and locations around their home which can give the images a more personal touch. I love the challenge of working on location, and often combine natural light with flash.
I may not be able to draw people (unless you are a stick person), but I’ve spent a lot of time learning advanced retouching techniques. All the images I deliver have things like blemishes cleaned up and skin blotches smoothed, without losing the skin texture. It’s important to me that you look your best – while still looking like you!
When I’m not working with women to make beautiful pictures, I can be found chasing after my kids trying to get them to hold still for just one shot. It never seems to work. I have great admiration for family photographers who can keep up with kids and manage to capture great pictures of them! I’m also roller derby fan and a league photographer for the Terminal City Roller Girls. Come out to a bout some time, find me and say hi!
